Inlet/Outlet Module 16/20A type 4730

Our new Inlet/ Outlet module type 4730 is a 'gender changer' connection solution, which is a through- bulkhead screw mounted. This allows a mains supply to be connected to the IEC C20 inlet on one side of an enclosure using cord sets, and a supply to be taken from the IEC J outlet on the other side or vice- versa. This innovative addition to our comprehensive IEC range is an ideal power interconnection solution for equipment in enclosures. It has many possible applications such as test and measurement devices in climatic test chambers, or for systems such as power supply racks. The body of the module is composed of UL94-V0 and the contacts are nickel- plated brass of one single piece (no soldering or riveting). The outlet complies to EN 60320-1/C20, and the inlet to EN 60320-2-2/J and is available in class I cold condition versions. The module is approved to TUV 16A/250V and cURus 20A/250V.

Schurter Introduces High Current Cord Connectors for Angled Mounting - Angled Cords Consume Less Space and Minimize Tripping

SCHURTER's new power cord connectors are rated for use with cordage up to 16/21 A. Two types, 4789 and 4790 (plug or connector), are angled for closer placement of the equipment to the wall, consuming less space and minimizing the potential for tangling or tripping.

The rewireable cord connectors have pillar terminals for ease of safe and reliable wire connections. Unlike straight plugs, an angled plug is less apt to disconnect from the inlet when someone trips over the cord. The stronger connection assures a safer and more reliable supply of power to the equipment. The size of the strain relief can be specified for a 8.7 mm or 10mm (16/14AWG) cable.

Approved according to ENEC 16 A / 250 V and 21 A / 125, 250 V UL, CSA, the cord connectors are ideal for higher power consuming equipment found in IT environments, high-end household appliances, power electronics (i.e. power supplies, voltage stabilizers) as well as industrial environments.

For rated currents up to 20 A, in screw or snap-in version for high current applications

SCHURTER's new series 4797 appliance outlets are rated up to 20 A at 250 VAC. The high current outlets consist of two versions for screw or snap-in mounting. The snap-in version was developed in response to customer demand for easier mounting and smaller fit over screw mount types, which is especially important for gang mounting. It is available in seven variations to suit a variety of panel thicknesses ranging from 0.8 - 3 mm. Connections can be made with 6.3 x 0.8 mm quick-fit terminals or solder tabs. The body is made from flame resistant thermoplastic UL94 V-0 while the live parts are made of copper alloy to protect against corrosion and to provide excellent conductivity.

The standard outlet is offered for protection class I (L / N / PE). A class II (L / N) type for use in medical equipment is available on request. Built according to IEC 60320-2-2 type J and type L, they are rated for 16 A at 250 VAC, 50 Hz according to ENEC ( <img src="../../images/support/approvals/enec_vde.gif" width="30">) and for 20 A at 125/250 VAC, 60 Hz according to cURus (USA & Canada) ( <img src="../../images/support/approvals/curus.gif" width="40"> ).

The 4797 outlets are suitable for use in test and IT equipment according to IEC/EN 60950, providing a convenient solution for distributing power from racks to multiple pieces of equipment. They are also ideal for use in outlet strips used for power distribution in household, office and industrial environments.

> Series Combining Appliance Inlet, Line-Filter and Circuit Breaker for Equipment Rated 16 Amps IEC/EN (20A UL/CSA)

Schurter's new power entry module, series EF11, combines an appliance inlet, according to IEC/EN 60320-1, and 2-pole circuit breaker for equipment. Unlike popular fused modules, the circuit breaker provides manual reset of the circuit, and higher current limiting characteristics. It also provides circuit status indication depending on the switch position (I/O).

Circuit breaker options include 1 or 2-pole thermal overload protection up to 16A (20A), or without bi-metal for 2-pole on/off switching only (max. 16A). An optional under-voltage release can detect power loss and protect against unwanted restart. A remote trip function is also available.

Power entry modules are designed to save panel space, cut parts count and streamline wiring. The EF11 is pending VDE approvals up to 16A at 250 Volts, and UL & CSA up to 20A at 125 and 250 Volts. Applications include higher power consuming equipment, like CAD systems, office automation equipment, industrial workstations, base stations, file servers, bar coding equipment and power supplies.

The EF11 will be available with a line-filter in early 2002, type EF12.

> Power Entry Module Offers Maximum Functionality with Minimal Dimensions

DD series is most compact power entry design for safe power input

Schurter announced today the new DD11 and DD12 power entry modules as an extension to their existing snap-in and pcb mount counterparts. The new addition with mounting flange is offered for applications requiring screw mounting to the panel.

The DD series provides up to four functions packed into a 49 x 30 mm space saving package. The additional mounting flange supports horizontal mounting, thereby optimizing space while providing maximum functionality. The inlet portion of the unit (according to IEC 60320-1, style C14 or C18), integrates a fuseholder, switch and optional standard or medical EMC filter.

The DD series is especially suited for medical applications, designed to comply with IEC 60601-2. The fusedrawers are offered as 1 or 2-pole and accept 5 x 20mm fuses. An extra-safe feature prevents users from removing the fusedrawer while the power cord is plugged into the equipment. The medical filter limits leakage current to 5 or 80 uA respectively. The M80 version provides increased attenuation of electro-magnetic interference, yet still meets the leakage requirements for non-patient contact devices. The 2-pole switch offers an inrush current peak of 100 A capacitive for 3 ms and is available in both illuminated and non-illuminated versions.

The series is rated for currents up to 8 A at 125 VAC 60 Hz by UL/CSA, and 10 A at 250 VAC 50 Hz by IEC/EN. It is also suited for use in applications as described in IEC 60950, such as measurement, office, security and data communications equipment. The compact design makes it ideally suited for use in low profile designs, especially 1RU enclosures for 19" racks, and IT and telecom infrastructures where equipment is continually downsized. Delivery is stock to 6 weeks.

Quadbloc + two Type 4758

The addition of the Quadbloc+2 type 4758 to our current Quadbloc range, adds even more applications than the Quadbloc type 4752 and Quadbloc+1 type 4754. It is a single module consisting of four ganged IEC "F" outlets, and a frame into which a Schurter single (Type 6200) or double fused (Type 6220) 2mm snap- in inlet can be inserted. This creates a compact, fully integrated module that allows for rapid fitting, which saves on assembly time. The busbar is formed of a single piece, so it is far more robust than the traditional soldered type, and is available with a choice of 6.3mm quick- connect tabs, solder tabs, or the combination of both. The rear is housed in a black plastic cover that protects from accidental contact. The 4758 is ideal for a vast range of applications such as computer systems, uninterruptible power supplies, industrial control systems and many more. The Quadbloc+2 offers a compact snap- in unit for various panel thicknesses from 1mm to 3mm. Type 4758 is class I protection and the module is approved to 10A/250V VDE and 15A/250V cURus.
