> SCHURTER Expands the Product Portfolio, Introducing the Radial Leaded Varistors AVTS, AVTP and AVTT
To add a third protective element to fuses and filters, SCHURTER now also offers overvoltage protection components, thereby making it possible for users to obtain all components required for the electrical protection of their electronic appliances from one source.

SCHURTER now offers radial leaded varistors, also referred to as MOV (Metal Oxide Varistors), which help protect electronic circuits against surge transients, such as can be caused by lightning strikes and switching of contacts and inductive loads. Varistors are suited to a wide variety of applications including switching mode power supplies, ballasts and motor protection used in areas such as industry, telecom and medical technology as well as in consumer goods.

There are different types for various applications fields available: AVTS for secondary protection, AVTP for primary protection, and AVTT for 3-phase applications. The varistors, all approved according to IEC 61051, UL 1449, UL 1414 as well as CSA C22.2 and conforming to RoHS regulations, are available in plastic bags, taped and reeled and in ammo packaging.

> Over-Current Protection for Primary and Secondary Applications
In niche markets with limited space, customers might look for a solution where SMD Fuses should be replacable without soldering. The successful standard UMT 250 has been extended for this reason with a clip option.

The UMZ 250 offers time-lag characteristic according to IEC 60127-4 and is a Universal Modular Fuse (UMF) with rated current values from 315 mA to 4 A. The product provides a high breaking capacity of up to 200 A at 250 VAC. The clip option allows a customer fuse replacement with the benefit that only the UMT 250 fits. This has the advantage that e.g. the technical specification in contrast to a 5x20 mm solution does not vary and spare fuses could be sold through the equipment manufacturer. With this setup, the manufacturer receives important information about equipment failures in the field. Gold cap are required, in order that the clip and the fuse are not soldered together in the reflow soldering process. As replacement, the standard UMT 250 can be used instead.

> SCHURTER Spotlights First Chip Fuse in a 1206 Package for High Current Protection up to 25 A
Small Fuse, High Performance with 1206 Footprint

SCHURTER released today the first 1206 chip fuse series UST 1206 with rated current values up to 25 A and slow-blow characteristic. It boasts high melting I2t values, which provides good inrush withstand performance. It’s a cost-effective solution for applications in which high inrush current and on-off cycling are present.

The UST 1206 with characteristics according to UL 248-14 complements the previously introduced and successful USI 1206 with characteristic according to IEC 60127-4. The current ratings of the UST 1206 range from 7 to 25 A with voltage ratings up to 63 VDC and 32 VAC. The device provides a breaking capacity of up to 400 A at defined voltage and an operating temperature range of - 55C to +90C.

The fuse is designed to provide secondary over current protection in power inverters, back lighted DC-AC inverters for monitors, wherein power consumption is high at a low voltage level, e.g. 5 or 12 VDC.

The legend marking on each fuse allows a clear visual identification. The fuse is approved according to UL 248-14 and holds a cURus approval. The device is RoHS compliant and is supplied on tape and reel either with 1k or 5k or 15k pieces.

> The UMT 250 Offers More Versatility with Extended Current Ratings
One SMD fuse for use in both primary and secondary circuits streamlines processes

Schurter announces several new current ratings to its already popular UMT 250 series, for a total of twenty two unique ratings from 80mA to 10A. The series is designed to provide overcurrent and short-circuit protection in both primary and secondary circuits. The versatile one package solution streamlines design, procurement and automated assembly processes.

The UMT 250 maximizes circuit protection while its extremely compact size meets the demand for saving space and facilitating production. It can be mounted on both sides of the printed circuit board. Its low profile increases production rates when mounted with pick and place assembly machines. It is an ideal substitute for axial and radial leaded through-hole fuses where bending leads can cause assembly delays.

The Universal Modular Fuse (UMF) is time-lag (T) characteristic. It is rated at 250 VAC and 125 VDC, according to IEC and 277VAC and 250 VDC, according to UL. The series has a high breaking capacity of up to 200A at rated voltage. It is RoHS compliant and carries all the main approvals such as VDE, UL LISTing, cURus, PSE Jet (Japan), CCC (China) and KTL (Korea). Applications include protection of power supplies, storage systems, wireless base stations and many other electronic systems.

The UMT 250 is packaged in plastic bags of 100 pieces or taped reels for automated assembly.
